We eat broccoli several times a week. It’s the only green vegetable we can all agree on. We usually just eat it with margarine and Parmesan My eyes were wide open when I read an article in Cooking Light that showed 10 different ways to dress up broccoli. This Sesame Citrus Broccoli is a modified version of one of the recipes I read. I never thought of all the possibilities of broccoli. This bowl of goodness is sweet and spicy with a citrus punch. Time to kick up your broccoli!
5 cups of broccoli florets, steamed
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon sesame oil
2 tablespoons honey
4 cloves of garlic, minced
Zest from 1 large navel orange
2 tablespoons of juice from an orange
1/2 teaspoon seasoned black pepper
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
4 green onion stalks, chopped
Sections from 1 orange, peeled and chopped
1 teaspoon sesame seeds
Steam broccoli to perfection (that means it still has a bit of a crunch). I microwave mine for 3 minutes.
Heat olive oil and sesame oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add honey, garlic, orange zest, juice, pepper, salt and red pepper to oil. Let cook for 2 minutes stirring often.
Add broccoli, orange, green onions and sesame seeds to oil. Let cook for 2 minutes stirring often.
Ready to serve!
